STEPS Seminar: Sustainable increase of biomass supply
In our quest to reach net-zero emissions and tackle climate change in the coming decades, sustainable production and use of biomass is crucial to meet our needs for energy and materials besides food and feed. Increasing demand for this limited resource requires setting priorities for the biomass use to match its supply. In view of the rapidly evolving landscape of energy transition, increasing the use of biomass for production of chemicals and materials with higher added value needs to be urgently considered.
This workshop brings together 3 experts who will highlight these issues as well as the need for environmental considerations, supporting policies and business strategies from Swedish and EU perspectives. The event is organised by the research programme STEPS – Sustainable plastics and transition pathways at Lund University and financed by Mistra, The Swedish foundation for strategic environmental research.
